A new beginning
Following repeated hackings, it’s time to clean up the website.
Some may be disappointed that the old recipes are gone. I do still have them, within a massive database containing every line of text that I and you ever wrote. I never read any of the comments, so it’s quite amusing now to trawl through a few of them, and the incendiary remarks towards each other. Who’d have thought baking could get so firey?
But then I didn’t stick to baking. This was a mistake at times. Getting involved in the Independence referendum was a probably a bad idea, considering my alienation of nearly half of my country’s population and the clusterfuck of today’s geopolitical landscape.
I realise now that I was never made for macro-blogging. Time seems too stretched to do things for enjoyment and it reaches a point where the things you do, you do because you have to. Whether that’s for money, or for something more fundamental. Examining my previous posts suggests I stopped regularly blogging when my first book was being written. But from now I will try, from time to time, to talk about things that I care about and that I can’t be bothered seeking payment or promotion for. Without embarrassment, and with considerable self-deprecation.
Future posts might be about baking, but they might be about my other interests. Brewing, for example. Coffee, which I’ve not written about at all, but I’ve spent a lot of time reading about it and learning to roast it and to brew it in every conceivable way. Bicycles, and more specifically, the environment and our obsession with creating and depleting energy. Dogs. Music. Audio. Eating, If you can suffer some amateur reviewing, I hope you won’t be disappointed.
I am a dilettante of all these things, plus writing, editing and photography, so expect adequacy and possible entertainment, but certainly not polish.
